Hi, I'm Matthew and I'm a photographer and film maker. I was born in Boulder, Colorado and have spent much of my life in Hawai'i. I work across weddings, fashion editorials, hospitality, movement and surfing.
My love of media started in high school with an old Canon AE-1. I spent nearly every lunch in the photo lab, standing over the enlarger, trying to coax out the perfect print. I then got the opportunity to shoot a friend’s wedding, and what had been my lunchtime hobby became the blueprint for my future. The patience, passion and dedication I had in the early days continues to be my grounding ethos that I carry into every project today.
Following school I set off to Hawai’i, where while working on sail boats and farms, I realized I could combine my love for photo and film with my love for the ocean and all things movement. Next came Sri Lanka, where I went in house and worked as a media manager for a surf and yoga resort. I stayed nearly 2-years in Asia living and working across countries. I took every opportunity I could to work with amazing resorts, local fashion labels, yoga shalas, fitness studios and cafes. From Indonesia to Vietnam and the Philippines, I love capturing the essence of people and their places.
Now back in the US, I am incredibly grateful to be able to call this my job. My love for travel means I never turn down the amazing opportunity to work across the country, even if it sometimes means a not so comfortable nights in the airport. I love what I do and look forward to creating something beautiful with you.
